MYSTERY MOUNTAIN
This is the Snack Club's fourth year sponsoring Mystery Mountain, GUTS' fall marathon and 12-miler, and we want to see you there. Trails of varied terrain will wind 250 runners between, around and beneath the summits of Fort and Cohutta mountains, showing sweeping vistas of the valleys below and autumnal ridges beyond.
With 2,300-5,500' of climbing, runners will travel through banks of mountain laurels, up steep powerlines, down switchback drops, past abandoned mines and their derelict gear, ascending along Mill Creek's series of trickling waterfalls, past the park's restored fire tower, and through the remnant wall ruins of the mysterious Moon-Eyed People. Both races have a fast lakeside loop finish, with post-race soup, food and celebration right on its shore.
